Mike Szydlowski started his Shotokan Karate training in 1983 with the West Coast Shotokan Karate Association. He received his first black belt from Shinan Ed Hamile in 1990. He has continued his training with Sensei Alex Schein of Thousand Oaks and Sensei James Field of Santa Monica. He has been the Head Instructor of the Newbury Park dojo for the past ten years. Sensei Mike has also been a recipient of the P.T.A. Honorary Service Award, for his service to the children of Newbury Park in 2001.
